The Whisky Academy was formed in 1999 with the view to share knowledge with the discerning whisky drinker all over South Africa.

The Whisky Academy has regular and interesting tastings for members in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.  

Members pay an annual membership fee and receive regular updates on tasting events, new product launches, new whisky developments and receive the quarterly publication of “Just Whisky”.  Often members get to taste the new products before they hit the retail shelves.  

The Whisky Academy also provides;

• A one day course that focuses on the history of whisky, how whisky is made in Scotland, Ireland and the USA and tutored tastings of the various whisky types.

• A one day course that focuses on what elements give flavour to whisky in the various countries that it is made.  Orientation courses are also offered to promotional staff. Each course offers a certificate for doing the course provided they pass the test at the end of the training day.

• A corporate tasting service which includes tutored tastings, whisky and food pairing, whisky dinners and corporate event tastings.

The Whisky Academy has conducted tastings in South Africa, Mozambique and France and continues to provide new and fun whisky experiences around the world.
